A Cultural Day in Norwich

Norwich is a modern cultural hub with plenty to entertain. If you’re a culture buff you won’t be disappointed.

Morning

On the outskirts of Norwich, near the University of East Anglia and surrounded by Earlham Park, you’ll find the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, a museum of world art with regular exhibitions as well as special exhibitions. Set up from donations from Robert and Lisa Sainsbury from 1973 and with more recent additions, artists showcased include Francis Bacon The Sculpture Park in the grounds outside include Anthony Gormley, Elizabeth Frink and Henry Moore. Lunch

Enjoy lunch in the Art Gallery’s Modern Life cafe on Tuesday - Sunday, with a strong emphasis on local and seasonal produce.

Afternoon

Did you know Norwich is the first ever UNESCO City of Literature?

Book to visit an event at the National Centre for Writing, visit the art gallery at Norwich Castle or explore the Norwich Lanes with an abundance of cafes and tea rooms for an afternoon coffee and cake. The Forum often has an art exhibition on as well as being the location of the city’s expansive library. Look out for murals throughout the centre celebrating the City of Stories.

Evening

Visit one of Norwich’s four theatres for an evening of entertainment - the Theatre Royal, the Playhouse, the Garage or the Puppet Theatre.
