Bring Nature Indoors

Natural light flooding into a yurt with natural materials

Do you feel inspired to bring more nature into your life? With our modern lifestyles there is typically a limited amount of time we can physically spend outside and yet we all know that there are many benefits to our health, both physical and mental, of being in nature.

Nature can bring improvements to our mood, reducing feelings of anxiety and stress, leaving us more relaxed. To help us gain some of the benefits of nature while we’re within our homes, here are our 12 tips.

Ways you can bring aspects of nature into your home:

  • Indoor plants & lots of them

  • Open the curtains wide each morning & allow the natural light flood in

  • Position your furniture looking towards the outside, using windows as the natural focal point, rather than the TV

  • Crack open the windows to invite in a fresh breeze, not only will it help to clear away dust but it freshens the rooms up and invites the outside in

  • Play soundtracks of nature sounds throughout your home when you’re relaxing

  • Light candles & tea lights for the natural & calming element of fire as well as soft scents

  • Choose furniture made of natural materials, as well as items with natural sensory aspects - wood is a favourite in our home

  • Prepare fresh ingredients for meals & try to source vegetables as locally as possible - using food in it’s raw, natural form and learning where foods come from and how they’re grown can connect you with what you eat

  • Hang artwork featuring nature throughout your home - we have many wildlife scenes as well as a favourite woodland painting on our walls

  • Fill your bookshelves with nature inspired books - especially if they have soft, inviting covers

  • Position herbs on the windowsill

  • Sleep under moonlight with the curtains or blinds open

Natural materials and plants bring the outside in

We carefully create our spaces at Round the Woods to bring nature inside, as well as removing the barriers to getting outdoors.

With clear skylights inviting views up to the stars, whilst being flooded with natural light in the day, paired with an abundance of natural materials throughout you’ll feel many of the benefits of nature before you even step outside.

However when you're staying in a cabin or a yurt in the middle of a meadow, nestled under trees, the birdsong inevitably calls you outside to come play or relax. Sway in the hammock, read a book on the deck or gather around the campfire. With alfresco cooking, treeswings and a meadow to run free in, the benefits from a stay at Round the Woods are infinite to your mental and physical health as well as your experience of joy and connection with loved ones.

Our site at Round the Woods is full of invitations to spend time in nature or appreciate your natural surroundings from inside your accommodation. Book a stay to experience feeling immersed in nature.
